Best Wall-Mounted Makeup Mirrors, Lighted and Plain

On this page
A wall-mounted makeup mirror swings out on an arm when you need it and folds back against the wall when you don't. It frees the counter, sits at the right height every time, and gives you magnification for liner, brows or shaving. The big decision is power: hardwired, plug-in or rechargeable. My six picks cover all three, plus one plain mirror for bathrooms that already have good light.
I've mounted and used every mirror on this page. The list leans toward better light and better build, with one cordless budget pick for renters. Prefer a mirror you can carry from room to room? My guide to the best lighted makeup mirrors covers countertop and trifold models.

Wall-Mounted Makeup Mirrors Compared
Two hardwired, two plug-in, one rechargeable and one with no light at all. Power is the first column to read, because it decides what your wall needs.

Plug-In, Hardwired or Rechargeable?
Decide this before anything else, because it decides what your wall needs. The diagram below shows the three options side by side.
- Hardwired: connects to a junction box with a live wire behind the mounting plate. No cord at all, but it needs wiring in the right spot, which usually means an electrician or a remodel.
- Plug-in: needs an outlet within reach of the cord. Easy to install and always at full brightness, but the cord stays visible on the wall.
- Rechargeable: a battery in the mirror, charged over USB-C. No outlet and no wiring, so it suits renters, but you recharge it every couple of weeks.
A plain mirror with no light needs nothing but screws, and works well if your bathroom light is already good.

Jerdon HL88NLD Hardwired Wall Mirror 8x/1x
- Mid-range
- Power Hardwired
- Magnification 1x, 8x
- Mirror size 8.5 in
- Light LED, 3000K or 6000K
The Jerdon HL88NLD is the wall-mounted makeup mirror I'd put in my own bathroom. It's an 8.5 inch round mirror, 1x on one side and 8x on the other, framed by a halo light on a 13.5 inch arm with a nickel base. It's direct wire, so there's no cord and no plug: once it's in, it looks like it came with the bathroom. Jerdon says this mirror is used in luxury hotel rooms around the world, and it has that finished, built-in look.
The light is why it wins. The 5-watt LEDs give you two settings, a warm 3000K close to ordinary home light and a bright, cool 6000K. When I used it, I did my base under the cool setting, where every patch and edge shows, and checked the finished face under the warm one. Two light colors on a hardwired wall mirror is rarer than it should be.
The 8x side is the other quiet strength. It sits between the usual 5x and 10x: strong enough for tweezing and a tight lash line, but you don't have to push your nose to the glass to stay in focus. The 1x side handles the whole face.
The one condition is the wall. Jerdon is clear that the spot needs a junction box with a live wire. If you're remodeling, or that box is already there, this is the one to buy.
What I like
- No cord or plug anywhere on the wall
- Warm 3000K and cool 6000K light settings
- 8x shows detail without the 10x squint
- 13.5 inch arm on a nickel base
Keep in mind
- Needs a junction box with a live wire
- Hard to fit on a finished wall without opening it
Best Premium Light
simplehuman Wall Mount Sensor Mirror 5x
- Mid-range
- Power Hardwired, 100 to 240V
- Magnification 5x
- Mirror size 8 in
- Light LED, 600 lux, CRI 95
An 8 inch round 5x mirror in brushed stainless steel on a telescopic swing arm. The light switches on by itself as your face approaches. simplehuman rates it at 600 lux with a CRI of 95, and the LEDs are rated to perform like new after 40,000 hours. It's hardwired, 100 to 240V.
This is the best light on the page. CRI 95 is as close to daylight color as you'll find in a makeup mirror, which matters most if you match foundation or do makeup for other people. The sensor is a real convenience with creamy or wet hands, and the arm moves smoothly and stays where you leave it. simplehuman shapes the curve to stay distortion-free right to the edge, and at 5x that held true for me.
It needs the same wiring as the Jerdon, and it only has the one 5x side, so you use your main mirror for the full face. If color accuracy is your priority and the wall is open, it's worth the step up.
What I like
- CRI 95 light at 600 lux, close to daylight
- Lights up as you lean in, no buttons
- Smooth telescopic stainless steel arm
- LEDs rated for 40,000 hours
Keep in mind
- Hardwired: wiring needed behind the plate
- Single 5x mirror, no 1x side listed
Best Plug-In
Jerdon HL65N Lighted Wall Mirror 5x
- Mid-range
- Power Plug-in, 6 ft cord
- Magnification 1x, 5x
- Mirror size 8 in
- Light LED, 3000K
If you have an outlet near the sink and no plans to open the wall, this is the lighted wall mirror to get. It's an 8 inch two-sided mirror, 1x and 5x, that swivels 360 degrees and reaches 14 inches from the wall. The 6-foot cord and plug run from a 4 by 5 inch mounting plate, and the hardware is in the box.
The LED is a 3000K warm white, close to the soft light most homes have, so what you see at the mirror is what you'll see in the living room. 5x is the magnification I use daily for my own makeup, and Jerdon says it shows about half the face, enough for liner and brows without losing your place. The nickel finish resists scratches and the arm feels solid at full stretch.
You do live with the cord on the wall, and there's one light color. For most bathrooms with an outlet, that's a fair trade for a lit mirror you can install in an afternoon.
What I like
- Plugs in: a drill and a screwdriver install it
- 14 inches of reach, 360 degree swivel
- Warm 3000K LED with 1x and 5x sides
- Scratch-resistant nickel, 1-year warranty
Keep in mind
- The cord runs visibly down the wall
- One light color only
Best Large Lighted
Benbilry 9" Corded Wall Mirror 1x/10x
- Budget
- Power Plug-in, coiled cord
- Magnification 1x, 10x
- Mirror size 9 in
- Light LED, 3 colors, dimmable
The Benbilry gives you the biggest lit face on this page at a budget tier: a 9 inch double-sided mirror, 1x and 10x, on an arm that extends, rotates 360 degrees and folds back when you're done. It runs on AC power through a coiled cord, like an old telephone cord, that stretches to 39 inches and pulls itself back, so there's no loose loop hanging under the mirror.
The light has white, warm and natural modes: a single touch changes the color and a long press dims it. It switches itself off after 30 minutes. Because it's plugged in, the brightness never fades the way a tired battery does. On the 10x side, the maker suggests keeping about 4 inches back, and that's where the image was sharpest for me.
Measure your wall before ordering, as Benbilry itself advises: a 9 inch head needs room to swing. You'll need your own drill and bits.
What I like
- 9 inch face, bigger than the usual 8
- White, warm and natural light with dimming
- Coiled cord stretches to 39 inches and retracts
- Folds flat, 30 minute auto-off
Keep in mind
- Plug-in only, not rechargeable
- Drilling tools not included
Best Non-Lighted
Jerdon JRT695C Wall Mirror 5x
- Budget
- Power None (no light)
- Magnification 5x
- Mirror size 8.75 x 6.5 in
- Light None
A rectangular 5x mirror, 8.75 by 6.5 inches, on a chrome arm that extends from the wall and tilts. There's no light and no power: just screws, and the mounting hardware and a 1-year warranty come with it.
I like it for bathrooms that already have good light at the sink. The rectangle gives you a wider view across the eyes than a round mirror of similar size, which helps with liner and brows, and the tilt lets you angle it to catch the room's light instead of your shadow. It's also handy for shaving at the sink. For a fog-free mirror inside the shower, see the best shaving mirrors.
What I like
- Nothing to plug in, wire or charge
- Rectangular 8.75 x 6.5 inch 5x glass
- Chrome arm extends and tilts
- Hardware and 1-year warranty included
Keep in mind
- No light of its own
- Single 5x side, no 1x listed
Best Budget Cordless
IMIKONA 9" Rechargeable Wall Mirror 1x/10x
- Budget
- Power Rechargeable, 4000 mAh
- Magnification 1x, 10x
- Mirror size 9 in
- Light LED, 3 colors, dimmable
A 9 inch double-sided mirror, 1x and 10x, on a multi-joint arm that extends, adjusts in height, rotates 360 degrees and folds against the wall. The 4000 mAh battery charges over USB-C, and both the cable and the charger are included. IMIKONA quotes more than 12 hours of light per charge, about 15 days at half an hour a day, with a 30-minute auto-off.
It's the wall mirror I suggest to renters. Nothing needs wiring, so a few screw holes are all you leave behind. The light has white 7000K, natural 5000K and warm 3000K with stepless dimming, and the height adjustment is genuinely useful when two people of different heights share a bathroom. The pearl nickel finish is plated against rust and moisture.
Charge it fully before first use, as the maker advises, and keep at least about 4 inches from the 10x side for a clear image.
What I like
- No outlet or wiring: screws only
- 4000 mAh battery, 12+ hours per charge
- 9 inch face on a height-adjustable arm
- 3000K, 5000K and 7000K with stepless dimming
Keep in mind
- Needs recharging about every two weeks
- Battery only, no plug-in mode
How I Chose These Wall-Mounted Mirrors
A wall mirror is harder to send back than a tabletop one once it's screwed in, so I judged each one on what matters after the drill comes out:
- Power that suits a real wall: hardwired with the wiring requirement stated, plug-in with a usable cord, or rechargeable with a battery that lasts.
- Reach and swivel: how far the arm comes off the wall, whether it holds its position, and whether it folds flat.
- Magnification: a 1x side plus 5x to 10x, which covers most makeup and shaving.
- Light: a stated color temperature or color modes, and CRI where given.
- Finish and hardware: rust-resistant finishes for steamy rooms, and mounting hardware in the box.
Before you drill, hold the mirror against the wall to check height and reach. Returns are easy before installation and much harder after.
How to Choose a Wall-Mounted Makeup Mirror
Magnification
Because a wall mirror sits on an arm, you can bring it close, which makes 5x to 10x comfortable. 5x shows about half the face; 8x to 10x is better for tweezing. Above that, you have to put your face very close to the glass. My guide to the best magnifying mirrors covers higher powers and picks for weaker eyesight.
Reach and arm
Where the makers give a figure, arms on this page reach 13.5 to 14 inches. Measure from the wall to where your face is when you lean over the sink. Multi-joint and telescopic arms let you pull the mirror further and push it flat when you're done.
Height on the wall
Mount the plate so the mirror center sits at your eye level where you stand or sit to do your makeup. If two people of different heights share it, pick a mirror with height adjustment, like the IMIKONA. For the main mirror above the sink, see my guide to the standard vanity mirror height.
Light color
A warm 3000K light is flattering and matches most home lighting. For checking makeup before going out, a mirror with a daylight setting or a high CRI is more honest. I explain both in my guide to the best lighting for makeup.
Finish and humidity
Bathrooms are steamy. Choose stainless steel, plated nickel or chrome, and keep the mirror out of the direct spray of the shower.
