Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information www.mirrorank.com ("MirroRank", "we") collects when you visit, why, who else receives it, and the choices you have. MirroRank is run by the MirroRank team. For any privacy question or request, email joan@mirrorank.com.
The short version: you can read the whole site without giving us your name or email. There are no accounts and no comments, and the newsletter is optional. We use Google Analytics to count visits, our links to Amazon are affiliate links, and the site is hosted on Cloudflare.
Information We Collect
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked, so we know what to improve. It runs only on www.mirrorank.com, not on preview copies of the site.
If you visit from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask first. A small banner asks whether we may count your visit, and Google Analytics only loads, and only sets its cookies, if you choose Allow. Everywhere else, Google Analytics loads by default. Either way, you can change your mind at any time with Privacy choices, which is also at the bottom of every page. Your answer is kept in your own browser (local storage), not in a cookie, and you can clear it with your browser data.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that let it recognize a returning browser; by default they last up to two years.
It records information such as the pages you view, how you arrived (for example, from a search engine), your device type, browser and screen size, and your approximate location at city or country level. When you click a link to Amazon, we also record an event with the product ID and where on the page the link was, so we can see which recommendations are useful. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; it uses the IP address only to derive an approximate location and then discards it.
We see this information in aggregate reports. We do not use it to identify you, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not combine it with other data. Google keeps the event data for the retention period set in our account, which Google caps at 14 months for standard properties. You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or with a content blocker. Google's own use of data is described in Google's privacy policy.
Amazon Affiliate Links and Amazon's Cookies
MirroRank is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Links to Amazon carry our Associates tag. When you click one, you leave our site, and Amazon may set or read its own cookies to record that the visit came from us, so that a qualifying purchase can be credited. That happens on Amazon's side and is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, available on amazon.com.
Amazon gives us reports of the items ordered and the commissions earned. These reports do not tell us who you are, your name, your address or what else you bought. Product photos on our pages are loaded from Amazon's image servers, so your browser requests them from Amazon directly, as it would for any image.
Hosting (Cloudflare)
The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical data for every request, such as your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time, in order to deliver the page and protect the site against attacks and abuse. Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy. We do not use it to identify visitors.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply and keep the conversation for as long as it is useful for that purpose. We never add you to a mailing list, and you can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the MirroRank newsletter, we store your email address, the date and time you signed up, the page and form you used, the consent wording you agreed to, your browser user agent, your approximate country and a one-way hash of your IP address (used only to block automated sign-ups). We first send one email asking you to confirm; nothing else is sent until you click that link. The list is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and emails are sent from our own mail server at hello@mirrorank.com.
We use your address only to send the newsletter, about once a month. We never sell or share it, and we never send Amazon links by email. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link; once you unsubscribe we stop sending and keep only the record that you opted out, so you are not added again by mistake. Our legal basis under the GDPR is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. To have your record deleted completely, write to hello@mirrorank.com.
What We Do Not Collect
There are no user accounts, no comment forms and no payment forms on MirroRank. We do not sell products, so we never ask for your address or card details. The site search runs in your browser and does not send your searches to us.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. The only third parties that receive data from your visit are the service providers described above: Google (analytics), Cloudflare (hosting, security and the newsletter database), our email hosting provider (for newsletter emails) and, after you click through, Amazon. These companies may process data in the United States and other countries. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
MirroRank itself does not set cookies for advertising. The cookies you may receive while using the site are the Google Analytics cookies described above (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only after you allow them), and Amazon's cookies once you click through to Amazon. Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies; the site works fully without them.
Your Privacy Rights
If You Are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland (GDPR)
The MirroRank team is the controller of the personal data described here. We rely on your consent for analytics, on our legitimate interests to keep the site secure, and on your request when we reply to your email. You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time with Privacy choices, as described above. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
If You Are in California or Another US State with a Privacy Law (CCPA and Similar)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
How to Make a Request
Email joan@mirrorank.com with your request. Because we hold very little that identifies anyone, we may ask for details (for example, the email address you wrote from) to find the data. We answer within the time the applicable law requires.
Security
The whole site is served over HTTPS. We keep the data we hold to a minimum, which is the most effective protection there is.
Children's Privacy
MirroRank is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Links to Other Sites
Our pages link to Amazon and occasionally to other sites. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the effective date below. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
