Keep in mind that these are also called in a variety of other ways such as makeup stools, dressing stools and if you want to get all fancy – boudoir stools – but they all refer to the same thing. While there are hundreds of them out there, today we’ll be taking a look at only my personal picks for the very best vanity stools, the best vanity chairs (in my opinion) and of course, the models that are, in my view, the best vanity benches you can get. I’ve gotta hand it to Baxton Studio, they did an excellent job all-around and at such an affordable price I can barely believe the level of quality and detailing that is on display – beautiful button tufted backrest, flawlessly stained black legs, durable and handsome fabric – and what impressed me most of all, the incredible upholstery work. It’s a 24 inch high vanity stool (highly popular size), overall measuring 24″H x 18″W x 18.5″L and it’s available in 2 versatile colors – beige and grey – both of which look fantastic and if you’re looking for a grey vanity chair (surprisingly rare) than this is the perfect solution. It comes fully assembled as well and includes a 30 day return policy. The Millani is, in my view, among the best vanity stools on the market in terms of sheer value for the price and it’s guaranteed to deliver a potent mix of elegance, comfort and class to your room.

The perfect balance of quality and affordability that it manages to achieve is a rare sighting and it is the true reason for its large amount of fans. Starting with its versatile size of 17″ by 15″ and 19″ of height, this little beauty can fit below any table you’ve got while still providing a nice and comfortable seating area. The solid hardwood frame of this small vanity stool ensures its sturdiness and durability while also looking great due to the discreet but effective leg detailing and multiple coats of white paint. To perfectly complement the white frame, you’ve got a charming cream colored vinyl upholstered seat that’s as comfy as it is cute. Assembling it is a piece of cake and it comes with a limited warranty (free replacement in case of any defects). If you want a simple but beautiful and insanely affordable solution, this might be the best vanity stool you can get. With a handsome design, elegant colors and a fantastic price to boot, Hillsdale’s “Canal Street” gold vanity stool is a solid and affordable choice. It has a metal frame that’s been finished with a gorgeous golden bronze color that amplifies the beautiful oval ring pattern on the back while also matching perfectly with the cream colored poly-linen upholstered seat. The 17″ x 17″ seat is also spacious and features a nice foam filling that’s quite plump and comfy. It stands at 26″ of height, making it a fairly tall vanity chair, and it can fit below any table right up until the back support plus it’s impressively sturdy as well, which was positively surprising considering the price. The design of this upholstered vanity chair is right up my alley and I can’t help but love it, from the sleekly curved legs to the beautiful oval pattern and color combination, it just speaks to me. Hillsdale also has a gorgeous white vanity chair and a black vanity chair as well, both similar to this one in terms of concept and price, although the design changes, so be sure to go to their page if you’re interested in one. There’s some assembly required, although it’s super quick and easy, and it comes with 1 year of warranty. Even though it’s the most budget-friendly option on the list, this metal vanity stool positively impresses and deserves a spot among the best.

Q: What’s the difference between a vanity desk chair and a makeup table stool? Are they the same?

While they’re concepts that overlap, they do have differences. Vanity desk and makeup table are the same thing but the latter part is where they differ – chair and stool (and you’ll also find benches). They’re sometimes used interchangeably but as the name implies, a chair’s usually taller and has back support while a stool’s usually smaller and backless. A makeup vanity bench is usually a mix of both, giving you wide seating with or without a back support. Hope that helps!

Q: Is the extra seating area of vanity stool benches worth it or should I just get a regular stool?

This one comes 100% down to personal preference. While the extra wide seating can be handy and comfy, I prefer the look of the classic stools and chairs so I tend to stick with those. I’ve had one that looked great though because I used it with a matching extra-wide table.
